Why Agaté?
Agaté (pronounced ‘Agar-tay’) is a gemstone that represents harmony, balance and healing.
As a grounding stone, it helps us to remain calm, rational and make better decisions. Many cultures believe that Agaté helps open the ‘heart chakra’ to help the body function efficiently.
Many Australians feel chaotic and unbalanced when it comes to their finances. We wanted to choose a name that best represented how we can help our clients: by rebalancing, restoring and bringing long-term financial health. We see finances as being the heart of every household, allowing the rest of our lives to function well.
Agaté stones also come in every colour of the rainbow, which beautifully represents that we are all unique and have different financial needs and goals. Our advice focuses on bringing your finances together to help achieve what’s important to you.
Meet our founder: Kanhai Desai

Kanhai Desai has a Bachelor of Business (Financial Markets and International Business) from RMIT University. He has completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner (CFP®) designation through the Financial Planning Association of Australia. CFP® is an internationally recognised mark and is currently the pre-eminent representation of professional financial planners around the world. Kanhai has also completed Advanced Diploma in Financial Services and he is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia.

He believes financial advice is more than just creating returns, it’s about defining your dreams and then watching your goals take flight and become a reality.
Growing up, Kanhai saw his parents save diligently, even when their income was small. It taught him the power of a good budget and putting money to work for you. Now, with almost twenty years of experience in financial advice, Kanhai is passionate about creating tailored financial plans that make a real difference in our client’s lives.
Outside of work, Kanhai enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, training to maintain physical fitness, and occasionally heading out for a hike to recharge in nature.
In 2022, Kanhai was named in the Financial Standard’s Top 50 Most Influential Advisers nationally.
Meet our Client Relationship Manager: Karan Rajaram
Karan joined Agaté Advisors with a commitment to helping individuals achieve clarity and confidence in their financial lives. With a Master of Business Administration, he brings a strong grounding in business principles and a thoughtful understanding of financial markets. In his role as Client Relationship Manager, Karan supports clients with care and precision, ensuring their administrative needs are handled seamlessly and that every interaction reflects the firm’s commitment to exceptional service.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Karan is known for his compassionate nature and deep affection for animals; particularly birds. His pet bird, Rio, is a cherished companion, and he hopes to extend his feathered family in the future. Karan also aspires to establish a nurturing home for elderly individuals and children in need, reflecting his values of empathy, community, and meaningful contribution.

Dhanushree holds a Master of Business Administration and brings a strong analytical and strategic skill set to Agaté Advisors. She plays an integral role in supporting the delivery of high‑quality advice through meticulous data management, comprehensive strategy analysis, and the preparation of tailored advice documents. Her disciplined approach and commitment to excellence help ensure every client engagement is handled with clarity, accuracy, and care.
Outside of work, Dhanushree expresses her creativity through crafts and cooking, and enjoys reading and exploring new places. Her curiosity and growth mindset underpin both her professional development and her ability to embrace new challenges with confidence.
